Working Together to Reduce the Impact of
Stable Flies in Western Australia
Who We Are
The Stable Fly Action Group Inc (SFAG) is a volunteer-run community organisation established to tackle the serious and growing problem of stable flies (Stomoxys calcitrans) in Western Australia.
These blood-feeding pests have a devastating impact on livestock, agriculture, tourism, and local lifestyles, particularly along the Swan Coastal Plain, the Northern Wheatbelt, and the Gingin Coast, where intensive horticultural operations and the use of raw manures as fertilisers contribute to stable fly outbreaks.
We work closely with state and local government, agricultural industries, researchers, and the wider community to promote fly control measures, raise awareness, and advocate for practical solutions.
Why Support Us
Stable flies are not just a nuisance - they reduce livestock productivity, impact animal welfare, affect tourism and property values, and can interfere with agricultural operations across the region.
The impact of a biosecurity breach enabled by this blood-sucking pest would be devastating for the livestock industry in Australia.
